The School of Technology was established in August 2005, with the merging of the Agricultural Engineering Department and the Physics and Computer Science Department. The new School annually enrolls over ---- students. Its student body is one of the most demographically representative in the university in terms of gender, reflecting all its diversity. With almost --- per cent of student enrollment, the School is by far the highest populated at Njala University. Large numbers of students are drawn from the Science stream, Commercial stream and the Humanities.
Academically, the School is divided into four departments, including an Institute:
- Department of Agricultural Engineering
- Department of Industrial Arts
- Department of Mining Engineering and Metallurgy
- Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Sciences (comprising Mathematics & Statistics Unit and the Physics & Computer Science Unit)
These departments offer a wide range of diploma and degree programmes in engineering science and information technology.
The School of Technology has more than permanent staff members, including almost highly qualified permanent academics. These academics are focused on conducting applied research and community engagement activities in addition to their instructional roles.
In its quest to promote knowledge and technology, the School provides the market with a career-focused workforce. The programmes offered in the School of Technology, with their entrepreneurial focus, open up unlimited opportunities for students to become job creators and entrepreneurs.
The day-to-day management and administration of the School is handled by a team, comprising:
- Dr S.M.Bockari-Gevao, Dean of School and Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering
- Dr A.B.Rashid-Noah, Director, Institute of Mathematics, Physics & Computer Sciences (IMPCS)
- Dr Issa Fofana, Head, Physics and Computer Science Unit, IMPCS
